London, August 28, 2023 – Distinguished cigar connoisseur and owner of the widely acclaimed website cubancigarwebsite.com, Alexander Groom (who took over from the original creator Trevor Leask), has unveiled his latest masterpiece El Habano Moderno: A Collector’s Guide to Cuban Cigars of the Modern Era. This comprehensive compendium, which has been highly anticipated by the global cigar community, is now available for purchase through the publisher Helios House Press.

Initially introduced through a successful Kickstarter campaign in 2022, the meticulously crafted book began making its way into the hands of backers in July 2023, marking a milestone for cigar enthusiasts worldwide.
At nearly 700 pages in length, the publication is divided into two distinct sections, promising to become an indispensable reference for devotees of Havana cigars across the globe.

The first section embarks on a captivating journey through the history of the Cuban cigar industry, culminating in the present-day market. Offering intricate insights into the complex processes underpinning cigar production, this section also provides readers with in-depth analyses of the techniques and methodologies required for dating and authenticating Cuban cigars.
The second section delves deep into the realm of contemporary Cuban cigar production, commencing from the early 2000s and extending through to mid-2022 when the book was finalised. With over 1,000 Havana cigars showcased within its pages, each accompanied by high-quality imagery, this section offers a wealth of information pertaining to dimensions, packaging, release dates, production quantities, and a plethora of captivating trivia.
Enthusiasts of the refined art of cigar appreciation can opt for two distinct editions of El Habano Moderno. The standard retail edition, presented as a singular, durable hardcover volume in a striking oxblood red hue, is Smythe-sewn for increased longevity. For collectors seeking a truly exceptional addition to their libraries, the limited collector’s edition is available. This opulent edition splits the two sections into separate volumes, both encased in luxurious linen with gold detailing and gilded page edges. Presented within a cigar dress box-inspired packaging, complete with seals, each collector’s edition is personally hand-signed and numbered by the author.

However, it’s important to note that El Habano Moderno is currently not targeted at the UK market, that I’m aware of, due to associated shipping fees ranging from £40 to £50, which are added to the book’s selling price. Despite this, the book holds tremendous appeal as an exquisite gift for any discerning cigar connoisseur.
Echoing the sentiments of countless enthusiasts, this work is reminiscent of The Illustrated Encyclopedia of Post Revolutionary Havana Cigars authored by Min Ron Nee. Groom’s masterpiece appears to stand as a contemporary equivalent to the revered Nee’s volume, cherished by cigar enthusiasts for its encyclopedic insight into the world of Havana cigars.

Whether as an addition to your personal collection or a gift for someone special, this book undoubtedly serves as a testament to the enduring allure of Cuban cigars and the dedication of those who celebrate them.
