It’s incredibly sad waking up to the news this morning of the passing of Min Ron Nee.
For those of you that don’t know, he was the author of ‘An Illustrated Encyclopedia of Post-Revolution Havana Cigars.’ At the time of release it was the most comprehensive book ever written about post revolution (1962) Cuban cigars.
This has been a legendary book amongst the cigar community and very hard to get hold of due to its rarity and often sells for high prices.
Min Ron Nee was just a pseudonym he used to stay anonymous—it is unclear what his real name is, and I’m unsure if this has ever been revealed. He spent a lot of time living in Hong Kong. He had one of the most extensive collections of cigars, which will auctioned off at madison-auction.com/auction/73. The website gives more information about the collection:

I was only talking about Min Ron Nee with his friend Alex Groom at JJ Fox, London, just a few weeks ago. He heard about a rare copy of the book he stumbled across in Davidoff of London.
