I love to keep up with the latest cigar venues opening across London. Last year, it came to my attention that Primrose Hill, near Camden, London, was getting a new cigar shop and sampling lounge, OM Cigars London. So, for a while, this has been on my wishlist of places I want to visit—as I try to visit every single cigar merchant, cigar sampling lounge, and cigar terrace in London. I know, I’m slightly mad! 😂

This venue is described on its website as ‘a boutique Cigar shop with sampling. In the heart of Primrose Hill. With a selection of curated Cuban and New World Cigars. We stock Cohiba, Partagas, Montecristo, Romeo Y Julieta, Olivia, Davidoff and many other premium cigars.’

It is located at 142 Gloucester Avenue, Primrose Hill, London, NW1 8JA,  a 4-minute walk from Chalk Farm tube station and a couple of stops from Camden Tube Station.

OM Cigars London takes its name from the sacred Indian term “OM,” representing the eternal and inner sound utilised in meditation, making it an ideal fit for the fusion of cigars and mindfulness.

The store opened its doors in March 2023, and this month marks its year anniversary 🎉. It is owned and run by Mansoor Mohammad, one of the friendliest guys in the cigar community right now!

My experience

In early 2023, I discovered OM Cigars London through their Instagram and Facebook pages. Over the year, their posts featured cigar enthusiasts relaxing and enjoying their cigars. They also post a lot of photos of their selection of regional and limited-edition cigars.

As I continue my journey into the world of cigars, I’ve been attending various cigar events and have heard a lot of positive things about Mansoor, the owner of the cigar store. It’s evident that, while he is relatively new in the London cigar scene industry, he is a well-respected figure. The more recommendations I received about his cigar venue through word of mouth, the more convinced I was about visiting it.

I had been looking forward to my visit to the store for quite some time, and it was bound to happen sooner or later. I wanted to know when would be convenient for me to drop by. Last year, I made it a goal to visit one cigar venue per month. This year, I have been stepping up my game and visiting one cigar venue per week.

I heard that a person I follow on social media, who frequently visits unique cigar lounges worldwide and has been to many incredible places, especially around the Middle East, was coming to London. We planned to meet, and I thought it would be great to introduce him to a new venue I had not visited before. Therefore, I suggested OM Cigars London and contacted Mansoor via his Instagram page to inquire about reserving two seats in their sampling lounge from 6 pm to 9 pm on a Thursday after work. Luckily, Mansoor confirmed that space was available, and we were all set to meet and experience this new place together!

The venue is near Camden, just a short walk from Chalk Farm tube station. I am familiar with the area because of its proximity to The Roundhouse music venue. The lounge is situated on a fancy street in Primrose Hill. Upon arrival, I found the venue a stylish combination of what looked like an old English bookstore and a living room, with a cigar humidor as the centerpiece.

Once you’ve selected your cigar, you can settle down and feel at ease in the comfortable and laid-back sampling lounge. This space is ideal for engaging in conversation with others, making it stand out – the atmosphere is reminiscent of a cozy living room, which fosters excellent communication and camaraderie.

We tried out a few different cigars. Mansur suggested a Montecristo Open Junior aged cigar, which had been aged for 10 years. It was incredibly smooth and creamy, and quite different from my previous experiences with Open Junior cigars. The aging process really does affect the smoking experience.

After that, we moved on to smoke one of my top wishlist cigars – the Ramon Allones Private Stock 230 cigar.

I know I’m a bit late to the party on this one, but it was like a dream come true to finally try it out!

Mansur is an incredible person! He has an immense passion for regional and limited cigars, which I found fascinating. During our conversation, he even pointed out the subtle differences in color between cigars from the same brand but from different boxes. I truly appreciated his attention to detail when discussing cigars.

I had a really enjoyable night at this venue and it surpassed my expectations. The establishment has a well-ventilated sampling lounge, a wonderful assortment of cigars that cater to both newbie and expert cigar enthusiasts, and coffee and tea facilities and a restroom.

Additionally, it’s an excellent place for good conversation and camaraderie with other cigar smokers. If you’re meeting a friend in town and looking for an enjoyable evening with engaging conversation and a group of others, I recommend bringing them here.

What sets this place apart is its remarkable collection of regional, aged, and limited-edition cigars. It seems like an ideal place to expand your own exploration of regional, limited, and aged cigars.

Going in initially might feel a little nerve-wracking if you’re solo, as it is quite an intimate space. But trust me, walk through the door, say you’re looking for cigars, and Mansoor can help you select the right cigar for you.

I have been to other cigar venues in London with a more upscale feel, but that’s not what’s important at this venue. Here, it’s all about enjoying excellent cigars in the company of great people in a cosy and welcoming atmosphere that feels like a living room. Mansoor is a fantastic host, and being in his sampling lounge makes you feel right at home.

I suggest making a reservation since only around six seats are available.
