Wow, talk about starting the year with a bang! Last night, I had the privilege of attending an incredible event celebrating the launch of a new cigar, the Davidoff Winston Churchill Limited Edition 2025 inspired by The Artist.
The event was held at The Churchill Bar & Terrace, a luxurious cocktail bar featuring an outdoor cigar terrace in the heart of Marylebone, London.

I visited this venue a couple of years ago; you can see my review of it here. It is located within the Hyatt Regency hotel, conveniently just a short walk from the Marble Arch (or Bond Street) tube station.
The evening was hosted by Roy Sommer and Anthony Rossouw of Oettinger Davidoff (the UK division), which you and I might better recognise them as Davidoff UK – the distributor for Davidoff, Camacho, Plasencia and Zino cigars across the UK.

Cigar royalty graced the event, including the likes of The Sahakians (Davidoff of London), Laurence Davis (Sautter Cigars), and Kirby Allison.

Owners and representatives from some of the UK’s leading cigar merchants were also in attendance, including:
James J. Fox,
C.Gars,
Havana House,
No 6 Cavendish,
Ashton’s of Manchester,
City of London Cigars
and Surrey Cigars
to name just a few.

The night kicked off with a Davidoff Winston Churchill Petit Corona – The Artist cigar paired with a perfectly made Negroni. There was plenty of food on offer, and I had the pleasure of reconnecting with so many familiar faces from my cigar adventures across London and beyond.

It was such a joy to sample a fine cigar and chat together, I got a few bits of gossip for the year ahead, I’ll keep that under wraps for now – but it’s safe to say that the cigar industry have a lot of exciting things in the pipeline for 2025!

Then came the star of the night: the Davidoff Winston Churchill Limited Edition 2025 inspired by The Artist.

Roy delivered a speech to welcome everyone to the event, sharing intriguing insights about this new cigar and its connection to Winston Churchill’s passion for art.

A bit of background about the cigar

This new release joins Davidoff’s legacy of honouring Winston Churchill, the legendary cigar aficionado. The Winston Churchill line celebrates his multi-faceted character—statesman, storyteller, traveler, and artist. The Original Series offers medium-intensity cigars, perfect for daytime indulgence, while the Late Hour Series brings a richer, more intense blend for evening enjoyment. (I’m a massive fan of the Late Hour!).

The Davidoff Winston Churchill Limited Edition 2025, inspired by Churchill’s artistic passion, takes this legacy even further. Featuring tobaccos blended in new proportions, the cigar delivers complex notes of nuts, black coffee, and cedar wood. Even the packaging nods to Churchill’s love for painting, with his artwork ‘Cork Trees Near Mimizan’ featured inside the box lid.

An artists palette covers the cigars – which we all thought was a brilliant touch – which Anthony can be seen showcasing below 👇

I thought the attention to detail in the branding of this cigar and its cigars and box were excellent. After the speech, it was time to enjoy the cigar.

My initial thoughts:

The cigar began with a rich, dark coffee flavour, almost reminiscent of chocolate. It paired perfectly with the Dalmore Port Wood Espresso Martini that we also sampled, which really enhanced the experience. As I approached the second to final third of the cigar, I noticed a strong, spicy kick that reminded me of the Davidoff Nicaragua cigar I tried a couple of years ago.

Overall, this felt like a medium-bodied cigar with an easy and smooth draw throughout. I liked it!
My review: 8 out of 10
When I asked around, it was mentioned that it’s retailing at around £65 – £75 a cigar, so this is definitely a cigar for a special occasion.

A caricaturist named Francesco made his way around the venue, sketching guests in their element as they enjoyed their cigars.

Here’s mine with Paresh from Havana House—absolute brilliance! 👇 It only clicked for me later on my train ride home, why they had a caricaturist ‘an artist’ there—a clever nod to Churchill the artist. How slow am I, haha! A wonderful memory to take away from the event. 👏

After sampling our final drink of the evening, The Dalmore King Alexander, the evening came to an end. I found myself among the last to leave (🙈😄). I didn’t want the night to end!

Each guest left with a wonderful gift box of Davidoff cigars with 4x Davidoff Toro Cigars:
WSC Belicoso
WSC Petit Corona
WSC Robusto
WSC Toro
— a cherry on top of an unforgettable evening.
