Hunters & Frankau, the UK’s leading importer of Cuban cigars, has unveiled two new additions to its House Reserve collection at an exclusive event in central London.

The launch, held on 15 October at Coq d’Argent, brought together guests from across the cigar trade to preview the Montecristo 90th Anniversary Special Release and House Reserve Series 1790 – Collection No. 3 honouring Por Larrañaga .

The evening appeared to be lively, with social media buzzing about clips and highlights from the event. One of my favourite videos came from Havana Cigar Exchange, which looks like it captured the essence of the night well:

Montecristo 90th Anniversary Special Release

To celebrate the 90th anniversary of the Montecristo brand in 2025, Hunters & Frankau has curated a rare collection of Montecristo cigars aged for ten years , marking a milestone for the world’s most popular Havana cigar brand.

This special release features 135 numbered boxes of each size carefully aged for 10 years representing four of the five vitolas selected to launch the brand in 1935: Montecristo No.2, Montecristo No.3, Montecristo No.4, and Montecristo No.5.

In addition, 100 numbered boxes of the most acclaimed 2012 Habanos Limited Edition Montecristo 520 are included as part of this very special celebratory release.

All cigars bear a foot band identifying them as part of Hunters & Frankau’s Aged & Rare House Reserve, while each box carries a distinctive commemorative band.

House Reserve Series 1790 – Collection No. 3

Hunters & Frankau also introduced Series 1790 – Collection No. 3, a rare humidor release made by Italian craftsmen DeART S.r.l. Only 50 numbered humidors have been produced, each containing 50 Por Larrañaga cigars representing every UK Regional Edition released under the brand.

Each humidor is accompanied by bespoke accessories designed with French luxury maker S.T. Dupont — a custom cigar cutter that doubles as a rest and a Ligne 2 lighter engraved to match the humidor’s number.

Hunters & Frankau has been ageing Havana cigars since the late 20th century, releasing small quantities under its House Reserve label since 2019.

Executive Chairman Jemma Freeman said:

“The House Reserve is about preserving the finest Havana cigars and presenting them at their peak maturity. These new releases offer cigar lovers something truly special and unique to the UK market.”

Founded in 1790, Hunters & Frankau remains the UK’s exclusive distributor of Cuban cigars from Habanos S.A., the Cuban company that markets and exports Havana cigars worldwide.

The pricing for these cigars and humidors isn’t widely available, with many sources simply inviting people to register their interest. If you have any information on pricing, please reach out or leave a comment below!
