A new era has arrived in Colchester, Essex, as Sam’s Aroma House unveils its exclusive cigar sampling lounge in the heart of the city later today.
Located on Culver Street West, the new space offers cigar lovers a refined retreat to sample a cigar in relaxed surroundings, comfortably seating up to 16 guests at a time.
The shop itself opened earlier this year and has a curated range of handmade cigars, vapes, shisha pipes, and smoking accessories.
Owner Sasan “Sam” Nejad, who has lived and worked in Colchester since 2004, says the new lounge is part of his vision to bring “something different” to the community.
“I know the Colchester people — I’ve had five or six shops here,” Nejad told Gazette News. “The people are friendly, and I wanted to open something nice in the city centre that’s different from the others.”
The shop and sampling lounge will operate Monday to Friday from 10:00am to 6:00pm, Saturdays from 12:00pm to 9:00pm, and will be closed on Sundays. These hours may be adjusted as the business gauges local demand during its first few weeks.
Sam’s Aroma House now joins a small but growing list of cigar-friendly venues in Essex. Among them is Featherstone Cigars in Benfleet, which has a very small sampling lounge behind a barbershop, and Shenfield Wine, offering an outdoor seating area for cigar folk. Meanwhile, Aaron’s Surplus Army & Navy in Rainham — though not offering an on-site sampling lounge — remains a trusted stop for cigar enthusiasts.
This new opening is also likely to draw interest from members of the Essex Cigar Club, a growing online community known for organising cigar meetups and “herfs” across the county, often in Colchester.
The owner of Essex Cigar Club said ‘We’re really excited to see the industry expanding beyond the major cities — especially outside London — and we hope that momentum continues!’
Sam’s Aroma House could signal a new era of cigar culture in Essex — blending the best of Cuba, Nicaragua, and the Dominican Republic right in the heart of Colchester.
