The United Kingdom has become the first country in Europe to introduce a generational ban on tobacco sales, as part of The Tobacco and Vapes Act, which received Royal Assent in UK Parliament on Wednesday 29 April 2026.


Under the new law, it will be illegal to sell tobacco products, including cigars, to anyone born on or after 1 January 2009 in the UK.
