UK cigar importer and distributor Hunters & Frankau has used the IGNITE UK trade show at Whittlebury Hall to place a spotlight on a new Cuban cigar from Cuaba, marking the brand’s 30th anniversary.

The new release, the Cuaba Yara, will be produced exclusively for La Casa del Habano retail outlets and is set to be one of the key anniversary cigars in Cuaba’s portfolio.
It will be rolled in a Cuabillas vitola, measuring 54 ring gauge by 160mm in length, making it one of the larger formats associated with the brand, which is known for its distinctive double figurado shapes.
Ana Lopez of Hunters & Frankau said the Cuaba Yara is expected to be available in the UK towards the end of the year.
Alongside the Cuaba release, Hunters & Frankau have also introduced/reintroduced several other Cuban cigars for the UK market, expanding its range of shorter-format offerings aimed at smokers seeking shorter smoking times. All of these are offered in presentation boxes containing 25 cigars.
Among the additions is the Romeo y Julieta Sport Largos, a short panetela measuring 117mm by a 38 ring gauge. The cigar is fully handmade using long filler tobacco from Cuba’s Vuelta Abajo region and is described as medium-bodied, with light floral and woody notes. It is designed to offer a smoking time of around 20 minutes. Romeo y Julieta is one of Cuba’s oldest cigar brands, founded in 1875.

Also introduced is the Rafael González Panetelas Extra, a milder cigar from a brand established in 1928 with historical ties to the UK market. Measuring 127mm by 37 ring gauge, it is handmade using short filler tobacco from Pinar del Río. It is positioned as a light, smooth smoke with subtle complexity and an expected duration of under 30 minutes.

Completing the line-up is the Fonseca Delicias, from a brand dating back to the 1890s and known for its elegant presentation style, including tissue-wrapped cigars. The Delicias measures 120mm by 40 ring gauge and is also a short filler Cuban cigar, described as mild with a smooth, refined smoking profile of around half an hour.
