Known for his passion for fine cigars, expert knowledge and welcoming approach, Mr Selkin built a loyal community around Robusto House, creating lasting relationships with customers, colleagues and fellow enthusiasts.

After receiving his diagnosis, Mr Selkin spoke candidly about his experience of living with MND and used his platform to raise awareness and encourage support for the Motor Neurone Disease Association. In 2026, friends, family and local businesses united to raise more than £30,000 in his honour, helping to support MND research and his ongoing care.

News of his passing was shared with members of the cigar community at a Surrey Cigars event held last night at the Harbour Hotel in Guildford. Close friend James Quantrell paid tribute to Mr Selkin, reflecting on their years of friendship within the cigar trade and a memorable trip they shared to Nicaragua.

Mr Quantrell remembered Simon as a man whose warmth, humour and generosity touched everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Simon Selkin will be remembered not only for establishing Robusto House as a leading name in the UK premium cigar industry, but also for the friendships and connections he built throughout the community. He leaves behind his family, many close friends and a lasting legacy through the business and the people he inspired.

His funeral will be held on Monday 20 July at South Lincolnshire Crematorium, followed by a gathering at The William Cecil in Stamford.

In accordance with his Jewish heritage and personal wishes, donations in Simon’s memory have been requested for the Motor Neurone Disease Association in place of flowers.

Those wishing to pay tribute can make a donation through his funeral tribute page.
