The Dalmore has launched its new Cigar Malt Signature Reserve Aged 18 Years, adding a permanent expression to its Highland single malt collection. Priced at £299 and bottled at 46% ABV, the whisky has been created to complement fine cigars while also being enjoyed on its own.

The expression brings together five cask influences: American white oak ex-bourbon, Matusalem Oloroso Sherry, Marsala, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. According to the distillery’s tasting notes, the whisky offers aromas of chocolate orange, dried fig and dark fruit, followed by forest berries, sticky dates, dark chocolate and warming spice. It is natural in colour and non-chill filtered.

The UK launch was marked by an event at London’s The Emory on Wednesday evening, in association with cigar specialist Hunters & Frankau. The cigar was paired with the Punch Princesas Limited Edition 2025 cigar (which I tried last year at the Phoenicia Launch in Cyprus), which has recently made an appearance on UK soil this month.

Founded in 1839 on the shores of the Cromarty Firth in the Scottish Highlands, The Dalmore has built its reputation on aged single malts and carefully selected casks from leading Sherry bodegas and wineries. Its distinctive 12-point stag emblem reflects its historic association with Clan Mackenzie, whose descendants took over the distillery in 1867.

The Cigar Malt story began in 1999 under master distiller Richard Paterson. Following changes to the range, Cigar Malt Reserve returned to UK shelves in 2012. The new 18-year-old builds on that heritage with a more elaborate five-cask composition and becomes a permanent addition to the collection.

The Dalmore Cigar Malt Signature Reserve Aged 18 Years is available through the distillery’s official UK website and selected retailers, priced at £299.
